MLS pulling an all-time boneheaded move by suspending Messi, the easy face of a widely miniscule league...

Messi joining the MLS will always baffle me, even as a non-soccer follower. Boosted by the "Messi effect," Major League Soccer hit record attendance marks and saw expanded sponsorship revenue this season. With the conclusion of the regular season, MLS reported a 5% increase in attendance over last year and a total of 14% increase since 2022. With a league-wide total of 11.45 million. That's still not great, but it is an improvement forsure.
So here is the MLS going out there and suspending the face of their league for a game after he decided to rest and avoid the all star game (that 10 people would've watched). Messi and his team played 9 games in a span of 35 days. God forbid the 38 year old that's holding your league together by a string avoids an unenthusiastic all star game!!
Inter Miami co-owner Jorge Mas is worried about the future of Lionel Messi's relationship with Major League Soccer, saying "He's very upset, extremely upset today, as expected, I'm hopeful it doesn't have an impact long-term. Will it have an impact initially, in the players' perception of how the league rules work? Absolutely no doubt."
The 8-time Ballon d'Or winner deserves more from MLS as he winds down his career. Being honest here, I hope he leaves quite frankly
