MLB Umpires Are Being Gaslighted

These poor umpires are getting caught on live television with their pants pulled down after the installation of the ABS system...

As a former baseball umpire and hockey referee, I have all the respect in the world for the job officials do in sports. It is a thankless job that quite frankly we need as fans to scream derogatory sentiments at if our team is losing a game.

What Major League Baseball has done though by implementing the Automated Ball-Strike (ABS) system is a travesty if you are an MLB umpire. If you are a fan of baseball, it is a FANTASTIC addition to the game.

I just saw an umpire in Dunedin, Florida in a middle of the week spring training game RING UP a batter with a majestic strike 3 call. The batter immediately (and I mean immediately, ball handed even fully crossed the plate yet) challenged the call and it was overturned, just ruining a textbook strike 3 punchout call by the ump. The reason I bring it up is the fact was the ball was 3 inches outside the zone. For reference, a baseball is 2.87 inches wide, so he missed the call by a FULL baseball lolz.

This was pure entertainment for someone like myself who is both a fan and former umpire watching the umpire get exposed in a crowd of children and senior citizens that have migrated to Florida from our cold harsh winter season. Luckily for these Major League umpires this system will not be implemented until the 2026 season at the major league level. So baseball fans, buckle in for our last year of atrocious ball-strike calls that will have no immediate repercussion.
